Become a Board Member!

We don't take our role within the community lightly. We find it important to no just support or advocate for the community yet, be from the community. A way to get involved in the community is to become a board member for the Ebony Collective CDC!

Serving on the board is an experience that encourages personal and professional growth. Completing this form will help you understand the time and resource commitment we are asking for in a leader. Please read and answer each question.

 

This application will be kept on file for at least a year at the Ebony Collective CDC office. Applications are used by the Board of Directors to identify and evaluate potential board candidates. All new directors are selected by a majority vote of current board members.

BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves a minimum of one (1) three-year term on the Board. Eligible to serve two (2) three-year terms if re-elected. 

 

Attend a minimum of two-thirds of the board meetings. The Full Board of Directors meets every two weeks on Monday's from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (sometimes 7:30pm).

 

Makes a serious commitment to participate as a working board member. The Ebony Collective CDC Board Members are responsible for participating in at least one of the following: Grants, Human Resources, or Programs.

 

Stays informed about operational matters, is prepared and present for meetings. If unable to attend, inform the secretary or president within 24 hours of the meeting.

Creativity happens when we produce programming and advocacy. We create our best work when we have passion and commitment around supporting efforts of a better life.  

 

Honesty is the best policy and practice when it comes to having transparency in the community. We take pride and integrity in being held accountable when things are not right. 

 

We are Resourceful in our ability to overcome our historic trauma to reach a more prosperous lifestyle. We do this by being quick, clever and impactful in our process towards solving problems. 

 

 Open-mindedness occurs when we are willing to consider new ideas, opinions and partnerships that are different from our own. 

 

Compassion in our effort to support people who have overcome barriers and trauma; we assist by applying empathetic practices to the needs of youth, individuals and families.
